The online registration dates for the Joint Entrance exam (JEE) Advanced has been extended in Odisha till 14 May. This decision has been taken by considering the impact of Cyclone Fani on internet connections.
The Union Human Resources Development Minister, Prakash Javadekar announced that the registration dates have been extended by five days as a follow up to the letter written by Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik requesting the same. He further said that IIT Bhuvaneshwar will aid in the aspirants in the registration process as it has a fully functional internet connection.
“ As you are aware, the extremely severe cyclone Fani had hit Odisha on 3 May, which disrupted mobile and data connectivity in many districts. Due to non-availability of the internet at many locations in Odisha after Fani, the brilliant Odia students have not been able to register their names for examination”, Patnaik said in the letter to Javadekar.
The JEE- Advanced is an integral part of the admission process to get into IIT colleges. The online registrations has already begun 3rd May and will continue till 9th May. The examination is scheduled to be conducted on 27th May.
