After a recent visit to Harvard University by TSCHE delegation, a representative of the Lakshmi Mittal South Asia Institute Ms. Savitha G Ananth, Manager, Building Bharat – Boston Biosciences (B4) Program, The Lakshmi Mittal and Family, South Asia Institute, Harvard University visited TSCHE today.
Shri. B. Vinod Kumar, Vice Chairman of Telangana State Planning Board and former Member of Parliament, Prof. T. Papi Reddy, Chairman and Prof. V. Venkata Ramana, Prof. R. Limbadri Vice Chairmen Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) had discussions on various possible collaborations with The Lakshmi Mittal and Family, South Asia Institute, Harvard University.
One of the key programs with The Lakshmi Mittal and Family, South Asia Institute, Harvard University is the B4 Program which has three unique programs to promote and creation of new knowledge in Biosciences. First one is to provide eighteen months fellowship to the Life sciences students to experience the higher education at Harvard University or other Institutions in the Boston. Second one is to conduct the two week workshops annually (Young Scientists Development Course) on topics to related to Biosciences in order to boost scientific temper in the minds of young scientists and third one is to hold the two annual seminars in the cities of India to highlight the output and contributions of scientists who have undergone through this program.
Along with these Shri Vinod Kumar suggested that LMSAI should explore the possibility of setting up of Research centres in Hyderabad and work towards solutions to deal with the unique diseases like Thalassemia which are most prevalent in the tribal areas in the state of Telangana State and assured that Government of Telangana through TSCHE would be keen to host the research scholars and faculty from Harvard University with active support of Lakshmi Mittal SouthAisa Institute.
The members also have planned workshops in the areas of Artificial Intelligence in different areas like neurosciences, etc to name a few. Shri Vinod Kumar has assured that the Government has plans to make Telangana the educational and research hub and is actively supporting global partnerships in emerging areas in science, engineering, IT, etc. He also appreciated the efforts of TSCHE to promote internationalisation and make Telangana the educational and entrepreneurial hub through innovative programs and policies.
