In a move to attract more number of students for MCA course, the apex body AICTE has reduced the duration of MCA degree from three to two years.
Rajiv Kumar. member secretary of AICTE gave a statement, “University Grants Commission (UGC) in its meeting held in December 2019 approved the decision to reduce the duration of MCA from three to two years.”
The critics say that the move may not help students much owing to poor job prospects.
It is to be noted that MCA already took only two years for students who completed BSc in Computer Science and BCA.
However, the other students who took different subject like Physics or Maths at UG level had to undertake 3 years course before. These students would be able to save one year of their career time.
