Assam government has launched the first remote pilot training school in the Northeast region of India, in Guwahati, as part of Central government’s quest to make India a hub for drone technology. The Assam Electronics Development Corporation Ltd (AMTRON) has collaborated with EduRade, a start-up developed at IIT-Guwahati, and IIM-Calcutta Innovation Park for the project.
Keshab Mahanta, Assam’s Information Technology Minister inaugurated the drone school. He said, “Youths, after getting training from experts, can work anywhere in the country and in any sector.” Trainers certified by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will conduct the pilot licence training programme there.
