Chat GPT the immensely popular AI agent that can produce human-like-articles with simple commands is facing immense wrath among private colleges in Karnataka. These colleges have vouched to take strict action against students who are found guilty of using them is assignments.
According to its producer OpenAI, it is able to “answer follow-up questions, admit its mistakes, challenge incorrect premises, and reject inappropriate requests”, and is modeled on the GPT 3.5 series of it LLM (Language Learning Model). GPT-3 stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3 which relies on ‘deep learning techniques’.
Colleges are now fearful that students will misuse the platform and hand over assignments that are not crafted by them. They fear that ChatGPT will destroy the obligation to involve intellectually while producing assignments.
Hence universities in Karnataka are now framing their own policies and are conducting regular meetings for the right use of the platform so that the agency cannot interfere with the students creativity and, productivity and originality.
R V University in Karnataka has become the first in the state to introduce the clause of the fair use of ChatGPT.
The Dean of Computer Science and Engineering stated, “Students were experimenting with AI agents just for fun, but there are possibilities of students using it for writing assignments and coding purposes. Hence, when the platform became viral, we introduced a policy for the ‘fair use’ of AI agents that does not impact their learning. There is a genuine way to use tools like ChatGPT where we want students to expedite their assignment works and by telling them that in the future the industry will also use such platforms for work productivity.”
