What is the institute’s stand on start-up incubation?
As an institute, we are already in the process of getting the inventory in place. To further the cause, we have come up with ‘Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship’ (CIIE), where six business ideas are shortlisted. As an addition, we are also trying to rope in Industries and in September 2019, 2 ideas will be considered out of six. We have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with MNIT, which will aid us on technical grounds, in terms of setting up the incubation cell.
How do you select students?
The university has a comprehensive admission policy, duly approved by the Academic Council and the Board of Management. Selection of students is based on past academic performance, MAT or equivalent scores, experience, Group Discussion and Personal Interview, where an appropriate weightage is given to each element. The results are declared immediately after the Ground Discussion and Personal Interview is over. Admission process of the university is transparent, solely based on equity and merit. The university adheres to the policy of the State Government on reservations for the students belonging to SC, ST, OBC, differently abled and women categories.
Any new initiative around the corner?
At IHHMR, new initiatives are incubated with utmost tenacity. As for new developments, we are very soon expanding the Pharmaceutical Department on three different verticals-Medical Devices, Consumer Healthcare and Supply Chain Management. Each vertical will have a specialized course of one year, designed on seeing the demand in the market.
