The Delhi High Court on July 17, 2018 asked Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) to declare the admission results for MPhil and PhD programs for 2018 except the five per cent seats for students with disability.
“Why have you not declared results? We had not restrained the university from declaring other results. You are bound to declare the results. The authorities are directed to declare the results on the website forthwith,” the bench stated.
On the following day, that is April 18, the HC had asked the university to hold back admissions to the five per cent unfilled seats for students with disability for MPhil and PhD programs.
The court was hearing a plea filed by the National Federation of the Blind, which challenged the university’s policy of admissions. The federation stated it was not fair on the part of varsity to give 100 per cent weightage to viva.
