The Massachusetts Institute of Technology announced its plan to set up a new college of computing within its campus, the new college would be backed by $1 billion panning. The motto of the new academic set up would be to promote teaching and research on artificial intelligence and computing.
“Marks the single largest investment in computing and AI by an American academic institution, and will help position the United States to lead the world in preparing for the rapid evolution of computing and AI,” was mentioned in the announcement made by MIT.
The college will be named on Stephen A. Schwarzman, the Chairman, CEO and Co-founder of Balckstone, which is a global asset manager. The effort made in the direction of establishing this new college would, “”Educate students in every discipline to responsibly use and develop AI and computing technologies to help make a better world,” said MIT officials. They also said that the effort taken by MIT would also, “Reorient MIT to bring the power of computing and AI to all fields of study at MIT, allowing the future of computing and AI to be shaped by insights from all other disciplines.”
