Engineering course, which was already registering a dip in its intake is going to be more so affected this year.
Officials in the admission committee for professional courses said that this year only 26,287 students scored 40% and above in the 12th exams.
Engineering courses require 45% and above marks in PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Maths).
Therefore the officials are even expecting a dip in registrations.
Coming to the state of Gujarat, there are about 72,800 engineering seats in state and with only 26% of that number clearing the examination, more than 65% of the seats will be left vacant.
A senior officer of ACPC quoted, “In 2019, about 40,000 seats were vacant in the state and four colleges had zero admissions. This year we are expecting the number to increase further.”
