Q. In which ways Indian universities offer inter-disciplinary education?
In India, inter-disciplinary education is being offered in other ways. Dual and Integrated program like B Tech-MBA, BSc-BEd is one such way to offer a degree in two different disciplines. Another way to offer inter-disciplinary education is by combining two different areas of study and offer a single degree like BBA (Information Technology), BBA (Tourism and Hospitality), etc. On the brighter side, to promote inter-disciplinary education, a similar concept is already being implemented by universities like Lovely Professional University in the curriculum in the form of open minors and is recognized by the UGC as well. For example, a student pursuing B Tech may undertake a minor course in fashion design or psychology. Such a system is expected to shift the perception regarding inter-disciplinary education and perhaps, will gain more popularity.
