Not with standing all the noise about unemployment, if one were to go by the recent campus placements across the institutions in the country, the spike in job offers to students is on the upward mode. In 2018-19, the number of companies that visited campuses is more when compared to previous years. For instance, the Indian Institute of Technology –Madras witnessed a 30 percent increase, in December in what is termed as first phase of placements. A total of 133 companies made 680 job offers to students.
Corporate active in B-schools
Comparing the data of top B-schools, it clearly shows that companies from sectors such as Consulting and Finance recruited more followed by General Management, Sales & Marketing and IT-Analytics. New age firms in E-commerce, Operations and Product Management also attracted a good number of students. In the Consulting domain, the companies such as Accenture, Deloitte, Boston Consulting Group, AT Kearney, Bain & Company, McKinsey & Co, recruited more students.

In the Finance domain, the companies such as Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank, Citibank, HSBC, Avendus, ICICI Bank, heavily recruited students. In the sector of General Management, the companies like Adani Group, Aditya Birla Group, Vedanta, RPG Group, CK Birla Group, Wipro Global, Jindal, Mahindra Group participated in the recruitment process.
For the roles of Sales & Marketing the companies like Anheuser-Busch Inbev, Samsung Electronics, Procter & Gamble, Nestle, Asian Paints, ONGC, Indian Oil Corporation, majorly recruited students. In the fast-growing analytics space, the companies that participated more are EXL Services, American Express, UnitedHealth Group, MasterCard, and CRISIL.
Major recruiters in the information technology and IT product management domain are Microsoft, Reliance Jio, AT Kearney Digital, Tech Mahindra, Hindustan Unilever, and there are many more. In the e-Commerce and online space the companies that were leading with offers are Amazon, Oyo Rooms, Flipkart, Myntra, Paytm, and Ola Cabs. For the operations roles, Bharti Airtel, Uber, Cloudtail, Accenture Operations, Amway, etc participated in the recruitment process.
There were some top international recruiters such as Apple, E&Y, GrabTaxi, Li and Fung for locations in the Middle East, Hong Kong, North Africa and Singapore.

Comparing the data of top engineering colleges such as IITs, NITs, other public and private institutions, it clearly shows that job offers and pre-placement offers have increased gradually compared to previous years. This year international offers and the number of first-time recruiters have also increased. About 40 per cent of the offers were in IT-Software, followed by 20 per cent in core engineering, 15 per cent each in analytics and e-commerce and 10 per cent in finance. Companies engaged in research and development also made a good number of offers. Some of the companies that made more offers are Microsoft, Qualcomm, BCG, and Strategy & Cairn, Micron Technology, Intel Technology, Citibank, while the international offers were made by NEC Japan, Microsoft, Optiver, Rubrik, Cohesity and Uber.
Most of the international offers are from Japan. Germany also made an international offer which is the first-time recruiter. The other companies that participated are McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group and Bain & Co, Google, Apple, Microsoft, Intel, Tata Steel, Flipkart, L&T Construction, Mahindra & Mahindra, HSBC, JP Morgan, Qualcomm, Barclays, Goldman Sachs, Master Card and Capgemini. Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) also included the hirers for the recruitment process.

The top-tier law firms found to be active for Law courses are like Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, AZB & Partners, Trilegal, Khaitan & Co, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, Talwar Thakore & Associates.
The companies that visited top arts colleges are Accenture, IBM, Infosys, Nestle and many more.
