The Gangadhar Meher University (GMU) has decided to launch a Happiness Department from next academic session to produce ‘good human being’ and promote physical and mental well being.
Vice-Chancellor of the university Atanu Pati said the GMU will offer diploma course in happiness initially. Subsequently, the university will start under-graduate course if they receive good response from the students. At present, they are preparing the proposal for the diploma course and it will be submitted to the State Government for approval soon, he added.
If the proposal is materialised, GMU will be the first university in the State to offer such course. The minimum qualification to take admission into the diploma course will be Plus-II. Those who are working in various fields can also take admission and learn the techniques to remain happy. There is no maximum age limit to take admission into it, Pati said.
The course is not employment-oriented, but it is a fact that the efficiency of happier people is more at work places. Moreover, happier people remain healthier and their immunity level remains higher.
