Human resource development ministry of India has allocated another installment of Rs. 4 crore to develop infrastructure in seven colleges of Chandigarh. The ministry has released this amount recently under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan.
Earlier, Project Approval Board (PAB) of RUSA had sought Rs. 20 crore for the development of infrastructure but MHRD decided to release Rs. 4 crore on the basis of percentage utilisation of grants made earlier by the university.
Dalip Kumar, Additional State Project Director (Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan), Chandigarh said that priority list will be issued with each college eligible for the grant. Along with this, RUSA would also share with them the deadline for each project which will be finalised in a meeting soon.
RUSA regulations confine the utilisation of infrastructure grants for the construction of classrooms, laboratories, conference halls for both graduate and post-graduate programs. The funds can also be utilised to modernise sports facilities, and to renovate academic, administrative block and toilets.
