The Government of Jharkhand has decided to offer special residential coaching to government school students for clearing National Talent Search Examination (NTSE), Olympiads, and Common Law Admission Test. (CLAT) The Aakanksha Program will soon provide special assistance to students trying to clear the NDA exams as well.
“Chief Minister Hemant Soren has approved this proposal of the school education and literacy department. Now, it will be placed for approval from the state cabinet,” an official letter stated.
A total of 100 students will be provided the special residency coaching of NTSE and the Olympiads. 25 students each from standards 7, 8, 9 and 10 will be shortlisted for the two tests. Olympiads are organized by private organizations which check the proficiency of students in subjects like Math, Science, Computer and English and boost the confidence of these bright students while NTSE is a nationwide scholarship exam.
For the CLAT exams, 50 students each from classes 11 and 12 will be shortlisted for admission in law colleges. The students will have to take an entrance test in order to get selected. The Aakanksha program was initiated in 2016-17 to help government school students from economically distressed backgrounds by providing adequate guidance to clear the medical and engineering entrance exams.
92 students have cracked the JEE (Main) exams, 11 cleared the JEE (Advanced), and 64 have cracked the NEET exam under this initiative so far, a press release said.
JEE (Main) is conducted to admit students in various technical undergraduate programs while JEE (Advanced) is conducted to provide admission to premiere institutes like the IIT’s. The NEET exams are conducted for students seeking admission in medical colleges.
