Applications are invited for the ‘Swachh Bharat Summer Internship’ programme (SBSI) by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). Aspiring candidates can apply on sbsi.mygov.in which is the official website for it. The portal will be unveiled on April 25.
Interested candidates can apply for internship once the website is live. Only students from higher education institutes can apply for it. MHRD guidelines have directed institutes to appoint an officer in order to guide students throughout the programme.
Under this programme, students will have to adopt a village or two and will have to conduct activities of their choice such as creation of sanitation infrastructure, shramdaan, system building, awareness campaigns and other IEC initiatives in and around the vicinity to contribute towards improvement of rural sanitation in our country. The internship will be of at least 100 hours during May 1 to July 31, 2018.
Candidates are then required to submit a report in the suggested format within 15 days of completed fieldwork. Best interns would be adjudged at college, university, state, and national levels after the completion of internship.
A certificate of the internship by the Swachh Bharat Mission will be awarded to each student. The Department of Higher Education is formulating the guidelines for the internship in consultation with MHRD. UGC has also agreed to provide 2 credit points as an ‘elective’ under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) to students in universities or colleges who would be completing SBSI.
