IIT Madras plans to broaden its educational programs by launching nine courses on the SWAYAM Plus platform, a Ministry of Education initiative. These courses aim to meet the changing demands of learners across different fields, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Applied Data Science, Backend Development (Java Spring Boot), Cyber Security Analyst, and Android Application Development (using Kotlin and Flutter).
Led by IIT Madras, the SWAYAM Plus platform aims to bridge the divide between academic education and industry needs.
It aims to equip learners with practical skills and knowledge directly applicable to the evolving needs of various industries. Individuals, whether students or professionals, have the opportunity to pursue online courses and earn credits from esteemed institutions like the IITs and the IIMs.
Through this endeavor, IIT Madras aims to provide students with the necessary resources to excel in their chosen fields.
The SWAYAM Plus platform is an enhanced version of the Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM) portal. It is crafted to establish a comprehensive digital environment for learners, educators, and industry experts, fostering seamless collaboration and knowledge sharing.
All courses provided by IIT Madras on the SWAYAM Plus platform are certified at National Credit Framework (NCRF) levels 5 and 5.5. This accreditation not only enhances the courses’ credibility but also renders them eligible for credits. This offers students tangible advantages in terms of academic acknowledgment and career progression.
Within the SWAYAM Plus platform, IIT Madras has introduced the SmartBridge initiative. This endeavor is geared towards offering learners a smooth learning journey through the utilization of digital technologies and interactive learning resources. With SmartBridge, students can easily access resources, work together with peers, and interact with course materials in a dynamic and engaging manner.
