Researchers have found on the basis of a mathematical model that India would rank at 17th place for the spread of deadly coronavirus. The disease had originated in China’s Wuhan area in December 2019. So far 3 Indians have been reported to be affected by the virus.
Among the airports in India, the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi is most at risk, followed by airports in Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kochi.
Public health officials are working hard to identify the source of the 2019-nCoV. Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses, some causing illness in people and others that circulate among animals, including camels, cats and bats. Analysis of the genetic tree of this virus is ongoing to know the specific source of the virus.
