Microsoft’s Asia Talent Hunt Contest: 3 Indian Student Teams Vie For Top Slot
Microsoft Imagine Cup Asia Regional Semifinals is here and 3 of our Indian students had made to the top slots for the grand prize of $100,000 at the world championship in the USA.
First place at Asia competition will receive $15,000 and a spot in the world championship to be able to win the grand prize of $100K at Microsoft’s Redmond based headquarter later this year. While the 2nd and 3rd runner up at Asia competition will receive $5,000 and $1,000.
One team from Manav Rachna Institute of Research and Studies who developed “Caeli”, Tamil Nadu-based Vellore Institute of Technology has designed “Spot” and from Bengaluru-based R.V. College of Engineering has designed “RVSAFE”. Indian teams will face a tough competition by students from South Korea, New Zealand, China, and others.
“Caeli” – It is a mask for air pollution designed for respiratory patients.
“Spot” – It recognizes and checks for a certain character in packaged foods.
“RVSAFE” – It provides an effective process to handle natural or manmade disasters.
Imagine Cup is a global competition that empowers the next generation of students to team up and uses their creativity, passion, and knowledge. From the past 10 years, more than 1.65 million students have participated in more than 190 countries.
Last year, “Team DrugSafe” project from R.V. College of Engineering won the award under the Big Data category at the Microsoft Imagine Cup world championship.
