The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened online applications for the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) 2024. Interested candidates can apply for the exam on the official websites nta.ac.in or ncet.samarth.ac.in.
Last date to complete the online application is April 30th, 2024 at 11:50 pm. If needed, candidates can make corrections to their application from May 2nd to 4th, 2024. They can expect to receive their advanced city intimation slip by the last week of May, 2024, and their admit card will be available three days before the exam.
According to the official exam calendar, NCET 2024 will take place on June 12th, 2024. NTA will announce the release dates for the answer key and results at a later time.
NCET 2024 serves as an entrance examination for admission to the four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) in selected Central/State Universities/Institutions, including IITs, NITs, RIEs, and government colleges for the academic session 2024-25. ITEP is a dual-major program, with the first major focusing on Education with School-Specific Stage specialization, and the second major is in an opted discipline.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has been tasked with conducting NCET, which will take place across 178 cities and 13 mediums throughout India in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.
NCET 2024 will be conducted in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
There will be a total of 160 questions, out of which candidates are required to attempt 181. All questions will be in the form of Objective type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
In each subject (language/Domain-specific subject/Teaching Aptitude/General Test), candidates will have the option to choose from three questions. Depending on the number of candidates and subject choices, the exam might be held over multiple days and in two shifts.
There are a total of 38 different languages available. Candidates must select any two languages, Language 1 and Language 2. Each language paper comprises 23 questions, and candidates must attempt 20 of them.
Section 2 focuses on domain-specific subjects, offering 26 different subjects. Candidates are allowed to choose any three subjects as per the requirements of their chosen university. From these 26 subjects, candidates must select three domains. Each domain-specific subject consists of 28 questions, and candidates need to attempt 25 of them.
The third section, General Test, is compulsory, with candidates required to answer 25 out of 28 questions. Similarly, Section 4, Teaching Aptitude, is also mandatory, with candidates needing to attempt 20 out of 23 questions.
