Only 53 percent of the 21,578 candidates, who had applied for the posts of junior basic teacher (JBT) under SamagraShiksha, Chandigarh, appeared for the written exam.
The written test was conducted from 10:30 am to 1 pm at 43 examination centres set up at schools and colleges. While the Education Department had set up centres, examination material and staff was arranged by the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research (NITTTR), Sector 26.
As many as 250 cops were deputed at these centres, who also frisked the candidates. Observers and supervisors were deputed by the NITTTR for smooth conduct of examination.
About 15 IAS/PCS/HCS officers of the UT Administration were deputed as special observers at various test centres. Jammers were installed by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) at the centres. The candidates were asked to report 90 minutes before the scheduled time for the commencement of exam as frisking process was to be completed by the UT police by then.
Confidential examination material (question booklets and answer sheets) was brought to the centres by an NITTTR team consisting of observer, supervisor, police personnel and videographer.
The entire process, including opening of sealed packet of question booklet, identification of students, sealing of unused question booklets and used answer sheets was recorded on camera. No case of impersonation, copying or any irregularity was reported.
The answer key will be uploaded on the website www.recruit.nitttrchd.ac.in on January 29.
