The University Grants Commission shall produce a study on the quality of PhD theses from the past ten years.
This regulatory body envisions to finish the study in six months.
Invitations have been sent out to parties interested to send their proposal, showcasing their capabilities to perform the study, latest by June 10.
The study would include PhD theses from various central, state, state-private and deemed-to-be universities.
Representing the pan-India, the findings would play a crucial role in indicating the quality aspects of the Indian theses.
“Very commonly, PhD has become a business and there are people producing PhDs in a fake manner. They simply register themselves as guides in different universities. Due to this, there is a conundrum on the quality of PhDs,” said K Pandian, Former president, Association of University Teachers.
