Startup Blink Startup Ecosystem Ranking 2019 revealed that the world’s best city for startups is San Francisco. This list has featured more than 1000 cities in 100 countries. New York is at number two and at number three is London. The capital of Russia, Moscow is ranked as the 10th best city in the world which is followed by Hyderabad.
From 14th position in 2017, Moscow has moved up to 10th position. Both the cities, Chennai and Hyderabad have moved more than 100 positions up when compared to 2017. Bypassing cities such as Tokyo, Paris and Hong Kong, Bangalore has moved from 21st position to 11th position now. In India, the strong performers are New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
The system of rating evaluated the following factors:
- IT data from startups
- Accelerators & co-working spaces registered on IT platforms
- Aim of identifying the cities with the strongest startup ecosystems
The methodology for rating has considered the following:
- The number and quality of startups
- Infrastructure
- Business climate
- Public support for innovation
