Q. What made you quit a well-paying job and venture into the personal hygiene sector?
I was always sensitive about women’s issues. I had a high-paying job but had the intention to make a difference to the world with my work. I have come across TED Talks of Arunachalam Muruganantham at New York where he explained that very few women in India use sanitary napkins. And they have less awareness of personal hygiene. Finally, I did extensive research on this and found the numbers to be shocking. I eventually want to make a product, which when used by women should feel comfortable, instead of any health issues. This is how I quit my job and started this industry.
Q. How did you manage the funding for your business?
The funding has come from my own savings and some support from my family.
Q. What exactly is your business model and how did you project your product in the market?
Most of the sanitary napkins of other companies use plastic. When women use it for more hours they develop rashes due to which it may cause cervical cancer. So we developed a product which is natural & organic and hence safe to use it. We make sanitary pad using bamboo fibre (has antibacterial property), Deepanjali Dalmia, 27, Founder of Heyday Care shares how she realized the need to make healthy and planet-friendly pads with Brainfeed Higher Education Plus We must take care of two homes – our bodies and the environment which has high absorbance levels, and corn, for its soft texture. So women can use the sanitary pad without compromising on comfort and which is biodegradable too. We projected our product in an honest manner. Our business model is to expand our base, to go for the pilot project and to campaign for our product. We now want to make our product online.

Q. How had been the success rate of your business and what advice would you like to give the budding
It is working well and this is why we are planning for expansion. I would suggest budding entrepreneurs to follow their ideas passionately.
