Applicants must have ongoing projects that have been running for a minimum of two years, showcasing their ability to grow and make a meaningful difference.
The prize is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on accessible and high-quality education and empowerment of gender equality.
For the 2024 prize, the UNESCO Executive Board, in partnership with the People’s Republic of China, will choose two winners, each receiving 50,000 US dollars.
Governments have the opportunity to nominate up to three candidates for the prize, and UNESCO urges member nations to conduct their own selection processes and publicly reveal their chosen nominees.
Nominees should submit their nominations in either English or French by midnight on May 24, 2024, at unesco.org/qwe. For any additional queries, anyone can contact the prize secretariat at GWEPrize@unesco.org.
Higher education institutions (HEIs) are encouraged to send their applications to the Indian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO (INCCU) by April 30, 2024.
