According to a statement given by the US space agency NASA that it is inviting applications from start-up companies for them to take part in a three-month pilot programme in order to develop new technologies for space. Applications for this programme will be accepted till April 7, 2019; around 10 companies will be selected for the programme.
This programme will focus primarily on technologies that can be used in space such as geospatial analytics, digital design coupled to advanced manufacturing, autonomous systems, applied Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).
Tom Cwik, Manager of the Space Technology Office at Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California said that they want to assist these companies to develop their own technologies to become a commercial success. He also stated that NASA would also like to benefit by collaborating with these companies.
